The way we think influences the way we feel and perceive. The self-fulfilling prophecy is well investigated: If you expect something negative to happen, it is much more likely to become your reality than if you don’t.

So if we have a positive thought, one that feels really great to us, it has a strong influence on our reality. That is why whole schools of positive psychology work with what they call affirmations. We can purposefully think something positive and repeat certain positive thoughts in our mind, and it will help us shift and change our reality. It even makes us tune in with the field of energy and information that corresponds with this thought – and that brings new resources, attitudes and experiences. Isn’t it amazing how much power our thoughts have?

We all have had negative experiences during the holidays, and they also trigger our pains and make us compare what we wish for with our reality – and not always the conclusion is positive. So, today I want to you pick one positive thought, one that resonates with the Christmas spirit and your ideas and wishes. I want you to formulate it in present tense, as if it were real already, and I want you to keep thinking this thought throughout the day. You can write it down and leave it where you see it, or use a reminder function on your mobile phone. You can print it on a picture and put it on your desk – whatever helps you to repeat that positive affirmation.

This is the affirmation I picked, because I want to be more open and have less preconceptions – during the holidays, and every day.

So, you can use mine, or make your own – whatever feels better for you. Observe how you experience the repetition of this affirmation, and also the effects it has. Have a wonderful day!

I’ll be happy to read about your affirmations and how the day went in the comments below or on my facebook page.
