We all yearn for connection. Some of our deepest fears are those of not belonging, being excluded or rejected. There is a whole industry using and creating social media as ways of connecting.

Our ways of connecting have changed, but we still yearn for the same thing: A moment of truth, closeness, and authenticity can bring us closer to ourselves, and closer to others.

As our life gets faster and busier, frequently it comes down to taking the time. And today, in the spirit of the holidays, I want you to take the time to connect with another person and really share yourself, and really allow them to do the same. So I propose for us to:

    • Think about who are the people whom you love but are not in touch with. They may have been more present in another phase of your life, or they may live far away and not be so accessible.
    • Choose one of those people and call them, just to connect, just to know how they are doing and how life is treating them, just to tell them about yourself.

I hope you enjoy the connection. Do you know what’s fabulous? You will be making a gift to the other person, because we all feel good when someone is genuinely interested in us. But you will be making a gift to yourself as well.

Try it, and please share your experience in the comments below or on my facebook page.
