Today is hug day! Hugging people and being hugged doesn’t only make us happy, it also makes us healthier. Our body reduces the chemical stress response and produces oxytocine, the bonding hormone. (Adult detail: It’s because of oxytocine that we feel so peaceful and good after an orgasm. 🙂  But back to the general line of reasoning.)

So, hugs are healthy. Especially long and hearty hugs can have an amazing effect on how we feel, and they help us destress and connect and can give us a more positive mindset. They can be incredibly comforting, motivating, and relaxing.

So today I want you to

HUG SOMEONE, or ASK SOMEONE FOR A HUG.

Pick at least one person ( or better: three people), and give them a good hug, in a conscious way. Observe how it makes you feel, and what it changes about your day.

You could tell people that today is hug day, and that you are trying to hug as many people as possible. (I swear, it will be an amazing experience!)

I would encourage you to even go out of your comfort zone a little, and HUG A STRANGER! Could you do that? Take it as an experiment, see how it feels, and maybe explore what keeps you from hugging more (and being more healthy and happy).

In a hug, that’s where we find true human connection.

And maybe the question is not so much “Where can I get a hug?”, but “Who can I give a hug to?” Who could really use it? Let’s see what this day brings to you, with these questions on your mind.

Please, share your hug experiences in the comment section or on my facebook page.
